Some
Districts are better than others, and there is often a wide variance between
schools in a district. You may analyze the results as available at some of the
sites linked on my school
info page to really analyze the schools themselves. If you really
want to get down to brass tacks, take the time to browse both the Star and API
results for the schools in your specific areas of interest.

(Academic Performance Index)
Tests are one of the standard tests that all California children have taken
since 1997. Star (Standardized
Testing and Reporting) tests are the other standardized tests that California
children have taken yearly since 1998, and are the replacement for the CAP tests (from
the 1980s to early 1990s).
Some
schools are not on a level with others, but in general Santa
Clara County students have been outperforming their peers statewide.
